Data Value Reinvention in the Age of AI

AI Success at Scale Relies on Data Maturity. The arrival of Generative AI (GenAI) in late 2022 has created colossal levels of industry interest, investment and hype around AI. With 64% of European organizations investing significantly in, or deploying GenAI as of April 2024, organizations are starting to figure out how their existing capabilities must evolve to support new opportunities. Nowhere is this truer than in relation to enterprise data management and governance.

Overview

Many organizations have started adopting GenAI, but business use cases that really “move the needle” will require more than simply consuming commodity CoPilots. Moreover, despite the hype, it is becoming clear that AI models will ultimately be a commodity. It is proprietary enterprise data, and an enterprise’s ability to manage and govern that data appropriately, that will make the difference between success or failure with delivering business value from AI at scale.

2024 Data Xchange highlight video

Key topics

The IDC AI & Data Xchange 2025 will provide essential guidance on:

Data Products for Success With AI

The idea of creating “data products” is not new – but the new wave of AI interest and investment creates another major reason to adopt the approach. What are the key structures, roles, processes and tactics organizations can implement to create a data-as-a-product initiative that meets the needs of an AI-focused business?

New Literacy Conversations

The new wave of AI investment also affects how organizations need to think about, and deliver on, initiatives around topics like data-driven decision making and data literacy. If AI innovations enable non-specialists to “talk to their data”, what does that mean for how we reconfigure literacy initiatives?

Bridging Two Worlds: Structured and Unstructured

To take advantage of GenAI, organizations must rethink how they manage, secure and govern information - GenAI implementations leverage both structured and unstructured information. How can organizations bridge the silos that so often separate the storage, processing, and management and delivery of “data” from “content”?
